Houston, TX 77084 The memorial service is only tentatively set; they haven't been able to harvest Amanda's organs yet because she's still having very, very minimal gag reflexes. As a part of their ethics code, they can't harvest the organs until after those cease. So they're making all the preparations as if it's going to be at the time above. Anyone who can't figure out how to get to her house (beacuse it IS confusing to get to), get ahold of me or just meet up at my house. Obviously, I know how to get there. I'm....... not sure if I can stomach logging into her journal to make these posts anymore. My journal is public at least for the time being, so please check back there for updates. My LJ name is zully, for those of you who don't know. [Edit] A lot of people have been asking if there's some monitary cause they can donate to, somewhere they can send money. In all honesty? Send it to her parents. They really, really don't have the finances to do everything they're doing, but they're putting themselves knee-deep in debt to do it anyway. Knowing her parents, though, they won't accept it from "strangers" on the internet....... and I know this is going to scream of "scam," but my suggestion is that everyone who wants to donate money to her parents to help fund the medical bills, the celebration, the memorial service sends it to me. I swear to you by whatever you want to believe in that I'm NOT going to be tucking it away for myself. I just want to store it all up so I can deliver the entire amount to them in person. [13 Jul 2004|07:18pm] [ mood | blank ] I've made public the last post, and I'll make sure this one is public as well. .. It's funny. She wanted me to set these all at friends only because she was afraid that her parents were going to nose into her personal life; that they were going to judge and hate her. It's amazing how incredibly wrong she was. Just got a call from Ethan not long ago. Jonnie was able to write down answers for the cops today. From what I understand, here's what happened. They were going to a smoke shop to get cigarettes. One of the customers in that shop asked for a ride. They took him to an apt complex and when they pulled up to the entrance gate, he shot them before he took off. Jonnie remembers what he looks like, and where the apt complex is. Jonnie was able to drive down the beltway service road until he found police that were directing traffic where some work was being done on the street lights. And that's what we know so far. [13 Jul 2004|09:40am] [ mood | crushed ] Hey all of you. This is zully. I would've done this sooner, but Omi went and changed her password on me. It took me awhile to get it. On July 13th, 2004 at 12:10am, Amanda Myrlene Fleetwood (omichan) was pronounced dead. She was admitted at 7am on Saturday, June 10th, 2004 to Ben Taub Hospital here in Houston, Texas. On the phonecall, the only information they gave her parents, her roommate and I was that she'd been in a car "incident." We didn't find out until about 10am what her actual condition was. She was shot in the back of the head. At near point blank range. The bullet went up through her lower brain and is lodged in her upper brain. The swelling's so great that they can't do any surgeries to remove it.. she was showing minimal brain activity when she came in. The doctors said that her chance of survival was minimal, and that even if she does she'd be nothing but a vegetable in all likelihood. That didn't stop us all from hoping and praying otherwise. We were more or less hoping for a miracle at that point. We don't know much about what actually happened, but here's what we do know: She was carjacked. She and a friend named Jonnie went to the grocery store for munchies at about 5:30am.. no one heard from them for about an hour, so they got worried and started driving around. We don't know what happened inbetween, but we know they were shot inside the car. Amanda got one shot in the back of the head and Jonnie got three - one that bounced off his forehead, one that went through his face and took out his left eye, another that lodged in the base of his spine. The car rolled up to a construction zone where police were directing traffic on a freeway in our city, and that's how they were found. Three tires were popped and the front fender was gone. We don't know who did it, where he went, or really any details on what happened. Jonnie's in critical condition too, but he's responsive and going to pull through. His left eye is more than likely going to have to go, and that bullet lodged in his spine is going to be a problem.. but we know he can move his fingers and toes, so that's good. He's been unconcious almost the entire time so he hasn't been able to say much. Last night I got a phonecall, saying that it wasn't expected that she'd make it through the night. Her body was healthy, but her mind was gone. The part that made up the person I love more than anyone in the world was gone. All of her organs are being donated, and we're going to be told the recipients. She's going to save so many lives and live on through so many other people - her heart, lungs, eyes, kidneys, liver, even parts of her skin. We don't know any more about what happened or the asshole who did it. We desperately, desperately need to know more. Our local ABC channel news station did a spot on her; several, in fact. They also have placed an article on the internet, which can be found here. Please, PLEASE pass that to as many people as you can. Help me find the person who did this to my baby.
